It discusses Michael Benaroya’s, of Benaroya Pictures, future projects.. Robert Pattinson is mentioned.

Benaroya, who co-produced “Margin Call” last year, is fully financing “Kill Your Darlings,” a $4 million thriller with Daniel Radcliffe and Michael C. Hall about young beat poets Allen Ginsburg and Jack Kerouac and a murder.

And he’s also financing the $11 million “Hate Mail,” with Scarlett Johansson, Robert Pattinson and Philip Seymour Hall. And he executive produced “The Paperboy,” also screening in competition in Cannes.

That’s a lot of money to be throwing down. Benaroya, apart from noting that he’s only lost money on one movie he’s made thus far, said he likes to gamble

.

We recenlty had nes of two projects for Pattinson, Mission: Blacklist and The Rover. Is Hate Mail one of the possible 5 projects he has in the works? Only time will tell.

Below find some track listings and artist details:

The soundtrack for Cosmopolis reunites composer Howard Shore and the band METRIC for another cinematic collaboration. While writing the score for David Cronenberg’s film adaptation of the Don DeLillo novel Cosmopolis, Shore conceived of a particular live sound to achieve his vision and invited METRIC to perform the score and co-write three songs. The music was recorded in November 2011 at the band’s own Giant Studios in Toronto, produced by Howard Shore and METRIC guitarist Jimmy Shaw, and mixed by John O’Mahony at Liberty Studios in Toronto and Electric Lady Studios in NYC. The result is an atmospheric, urban soundscape of analog synths and layered guitars featuring the hypnotic vocals of METRIC lead singer Emily Haines. The Cosmopolis soundtrack also features “Mecca” by Somali Singer/Rapper K’NAAN with lyrics by the artist and Don DeLillo.

The soundtrack album features the songs:

“Long to Live”
Written by Emily Haines, James Shaw, Howard Shore

“I Don’t Want to Wake Up”

From Deadline:

Robert Pattinson has been cast as one of the leads in David Michod’s The Rover. The film chronicles a man who relentless pursues a gang who stole his car through the wild and rough Australian outback of the near future. Pattinson, best known for playing Edward in the Twilight franchise, will play Reynolds, the brother of one of the thieves who is left behind when an encounter with the police goes very wrong.

Guy Pearce co-stars in the film as the man in search of his car. David Linde’s Lava Bear and Liz Watts’ Porchlight are producing the film. Pattinson was just attached to star in Jean-Stephane Sauvaire’s Mission Blacklist, and he also toplines the David Cronenberg-directed Cosmopolis that is in competition at this month’s Cannes Film Festival. .

@TheInsider, who works for Variety confirms the information:

Rob is going to play the brother of the main car thief, who teams up with the lead (Guy Pearce) to get his car back.

Hopefully we’ll get clarification soon. Either way, it’s good to see Robert taking on more adult roles.

EOne is closing in on a deal to pay $2 million for North American and UK distribution rights to Cosmopolis, the David Cronenberg-directed adaptation of the Don DeLillo novel that stars Robert Pattinson as financial wunderkind Eric Packer, who risks his entire fortune to bet against the yen on a tumultuous day.

eOne has distribution pipelines in Canada and England, but it will likely have to find a distributor for the U.S. Maybe it will be Bob Berney, whom, rumor has it, will be revealing his own distribution company at the upcoming Cannes, after leaving FilmDistrict last year. The acquisition price seems high, though Cronenberg certainly has a following in his home turf in Canada.

Update from Deadline:

Entertainment One (“eOne”) is pleased to announce that it has acquired the US and UK distribution rights to COSMOPOLIS in all media, from Paris-based Kinology. As previously announced, eOne will also handle the theatrical release of the film in Canada.

“Cosmopolis is a thought-provoking thriller with the perfect blend of dark humour and irony. It’s a highly-compelling film with an all-star cast. This is certainly an exciting film for the US as we continue to grow our theatrical business, and a great addition to the Canadian and UK slates alike,” said David Reckziegel, President, eOne Films North America. “David Cronenberg’s innovative work continues to blow audiences away. We’re thrilled to have this standout film for three of eOne’s core territories,” added Alex Hamilton, Director, eOne Films UK.

The deal was negotiated by Reckziegel and Hamilton for eOne and Grégoire Melin for Kinology.

Cosmopolis is expected to be in theatres in Canada, the US and the UK later this summer. eOne is looking forward to the Cannes Film Festival and announcing more acquisitions in the coming weeks.

LOS ANGELES, CA – May 2, 2012 – Robert Pattinson has come on board to star in the upcoming “Mission: Blacklist” with Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire committed to direct. The screenplay was adapted by “Band of Brothers” writer and producer Erik Jendresen from the Harper Collins novel Mission: Black List #1 written by military interrogator Eric Maddox with Davin Seay. Ross M. Dinerstein, Managing Partner of Preferred Content, is producing alongside Jendresen and Kevin Waller.

“This movie is a gripping, edge of your seat thriller,” says Dinerstein. “I have been inspired by Robert and Jean-Stéphane’s dedication to tell this story in the most authentic way possible, and
I’m thrilled to add Hugo and Tim to our team.”
